I wouldn't normally do this but Adam Wengrow who was goalkeeper for our U18's last night has asked me to put up the following post on his behalf:
"To the loyal Wroxham fans, players and staff. My mistake on Wednesday cost us at least a well earned point. It was a game that I feel we needed to win and was important for us if we were to go on and take the league this season. After our performance we deserved at least a point out of the game or even all three at times. I put my hands up and can say that this is down to me. Whether it be due to inexperience or lack of concentration, as a goalkeeper, a single mistake can lose an entire game, whereas a forward can miss an opportunity and pick himself back up knowing that the scoreline has still not change. People dont notice that as much as a mistake from a goalkeeper. I'm not making any excuses and I fully apologise for my mistake and to all the fans that paid their money to come and watch a great game, but to be let down by the goalkeeper in the last minute. All I can say is, I assure you I want the best for this club and that watch out in the future as I am going to bounce back and show you what I can do. I can only get back up and not let this get to me. Once again, I give my apologies. Thank you for your support Wednesday night."
Adam Wengrow - Wroxham Under 18's Goalkeeper.
Adam has no reason to make this public "apology" and I think it is fair to say we all make mistakes. It takes some character to make this sort of statement and I hope all Adam's playing colleagues and friends will give him a boost to get over this by acknowledging his honest comments and give him every support for future games.
