Hi Pysio,
In your opinion how many times a week can a player complete a match? We recently had a lad who was obliged to play for his college on Tuesday, his college on Wednesday, his U18's on a Thursday and perhaps not surprisingly he couldnt play for his senior team on the Saturday. Add to all this he trained on Monday and Tuesday night.
Now I know young lads are fit but it seems to me that this many games will do nobody anygood at all. Do you agree?

hi barn owl.
although some would not, i totally agree with you, it does not matter if you are young and fit, or as old as keysie, it is a proven fact that players need periods of rest, to allow the ligaments, tendons, and muscles to recover from extreme exercise, especially on these hard pitches.
coupled with the fact that youth players at that differ cult age between 14 and 18are prone to growing/ over use problems with Osgood schlatters disease ( inflammation of the tendon below the knee), and severs disease ( inflammation of the tendons rear of the ankle), it may be worth having a word if the parents, if he does suffer with any of the above, it will keep him out for months . put them in touch with me for any advice - JC
