The team travelled to woodbridge, knowing nothing less than 3 points were needed, with key ( coming back from injury in the res) carus ( work commitment) Gilmore ( injured), the side was :
Howie, Pauling, Challen, Macca, Howes, Lemmon, White, Spriggs, Daniels, Paynter, King. the bench consisted of Simmo, Wines, Cook, Fox.
the game started on a very cloudy and misty day with the visitors knocking the ball around with ease, against the young woodbridge side. As soon as the 5 minute, Wroxham thought they had taken the lead, after a successive corner by howes, macca headed in to the goal, only for the ref to adjudged that a foul was committed, much to the players annoyance. At this point the home side struggled to get in to the last third of the pitch, leaving howie, a virtual spectator.
there were good chances for Paynter, and King , which they could not convert, and daniels could not connect with a good chance in the six yard box. However completely against the run of play, 11 minutes had gone on the clock, when the home side had a corner, and craig stuart stood all alone to head the home side in front. This seem to rattle the players yet at then same time gave the home side youngsters confidence.Wroxham were on level terms on 29 minutes, when spriggs, sprung the off side trap , and s;lipped the ball past the keeper, with the crowd less than happy with the linesman decision. HT 1-1
the players returned to the field, with the managers words still ringing in their ears, this had a positive effect with the side , who now looked like the wroxham of old, in fact in a spell of 6 minutes we increased the lead by two goals, first was Paynter who scored from 8 yards, and a very well taken goal by King, both after the some really good build up play.all credit to woodbridge, who could of caved in at this point but they did not, and also in the space of 4 minutes scored two goals, first through ben seaman, and a very well taken individual goal by daniel morphew who was a constant thorn in the side all match, to make it all evens again. Wines was introduced to the play at the expense of daniels, the game was now end to end, the winning goal cam on 78 minutes, from a unlikely source, after a set play, the ball fell to wines, who cracked one with his right foot, yes his right foot, the game pitted out with half chances for both sides, but the lads hung on for the much welcomed 3 points. with games against dereham ( Tues), leiston ( sat), we need to reenact the second half of this game for the full 90.
