Just wondered what the youth players such as Mccabe etc are doing this year, and whether the likes of Jake will be a regular in the reserves or 1st team?
Have heard that Maxey etc have followed East, Banham and Ryan over to the reserves?

90% of last years u 18 team have all left and gone to norwich united knowing that if they stayed at wroxham they will never get a look in ! at least at norwich utd some of them may get some time in the ressies....

wroxham have done themselves no favours at all when it comes to the u 18 team, the management made no effort to keep any of last years players.southgate, bond, rocastle, sexton, mcgabe, cook, snowling and the keeper have moved on with 9 or 10 of the year below who are the best about for their age.wroxham have just kept 5 or 6 who were on the bench every week ! the 8 players above started every game, norwich utd or lowestoft will win the title and wroxham will do well to finish out of the bottom 3....

Out with the old and in with the new. Lets support the under 18s and make a decision after they play their first game.

it just seems strange why any club would just let 10 players leave after they had a good league season and they won the ridgeons cup and all the same players are eligible to play this year.they all had the same reason to leave as i and many others do,after wroxham reserves signing all the sheringham boys etc they aint even going to be considerd for the ressies

This year the ressies want to challenge for the top spot and with last years squad (which was mostly under 18s all season) they are not going to. For these boys to leave its there decision and wroxham are wanting to go forward.

For these boys to leave its there decision and wroxham are wanting to go forward. surely the point of a reserve team is to develop and nurture young talent, not to parachute in a ready made team that challenges for top spot in the anglian combination.

On all fronts Wroxham have always been top of the tree so this means quality over quantity not like last season.

Some interested points made and nice to see the forum having some debate, so here’s my two pennies worth…
No disrespect to NU or any of the players who have left but...
NU have made several high profile signings for their 1st team squad so I really don’t believe many of the U18’s will be figuring too high on the managers pecking order leaving them playing in their reserves most weeks.
The Ridgeon’s Reserve division is no where near the standard of the Anglian Com premier so it’s another step backwards there, especially as our reserves will have the availability of some experienced players, something obviously lacking last year.
Sometimes players need to learn the grass is never greener, as players mature and wisen they will learn this, some the hard way.
It is a shame a lot of last years u18’Ss have left but if they really don’t want to play or Wroxham then they are better leaving and learning the above stated lesson

agree with most of that, tomw, but, it also seems to me that wroxham, have allowed 2 or 3 u18's to jump ship who are potentially better than those you've brought in to strengthen the reserves, and who, in a couple of years would probably have been first team regulars, unlike the majority of the new recruits who, when they discover that they're not going to figure in the first team manager's plans on a regular basis, might well decide (as you've mentioned in connection with the u18's) that the grass isn't necessarily greener in the reserves at wroxham and be off themselves; then you'd end up with a situation where you've allowed some very promising u18's to leave and the reserves are no better placed than last year. i've no axe to grind, just strikes me that you could regret choosing the path you have.

Alot of the players moved when alot of people where unsure as to if Wroxham were even going to have a side as they seemed to leave it an age to get a manager, and by this time, it was too late....

The old saying ( If your good enough your old enough ) So don't think any one would shut the door on good players. But good players stand out and didn't see too many so feel a new broom always helps to go forward.

S&C are you a Sheringham fan? lol
If they dont want to play for Wroxham and feel they are better off elsewhere, good luck, but its a backwards step to go to NU, if they where leaving for Kings lynn or Norwich i could well understand.
As for leaving Sheringham for Wroxham, at least they have a chance to better themselves only time will tell if they can? If they dont i am sure they will be welcome back with open arms.
Although to be fair some may move for other reasons like family/friends at new club, they are relocating or just fancy a fresh club, etc etc.

As you well know Tom Wroxham have always put the first team above all else and rightly so .If you have no first team you have no club. Last year we all pulled together and worked wonders thanks to all involved , from players to all the helpers. I have stepped down from all football commitments this season but believe alot of the lads done the club proud last year both youth and our older players . Of course the youngsters are inpatient and have moved on for one reason or another . We missed the boat with the lads from the sterry cup side and we have done the same again with these boys, sorry if you disagree but it is a fact.Good luck to all the teams at Wroxham and i for one look forward to watching them all this season.
